I was a doctoral candidate. My stipend was about to finish and I approached one of my supervisors (male) for any kind of teaching/administrative temporary jobs at the university to keep me going with my dissertation. His answer to my surprise and shock was: “Maybe it is not so urgent for you. You have a boyfriend”. I thought for a moment that I must have misunderstood him and the same evening (it was an informal get together with other students and profs) I asked him again. The answer was exactly the same to my bigger shock and surprise.
