I’m an independent filmmaker and a playwright. While talking about geeky things, the possibility of a new Star Wars film came up, and I expressed my distaste for the first three films. The man nearest to me explained that this was “groupthink” and that they weren’t that bad. When I explained that I understand what makes a strong narrative, dialogue, etc. and I honestly believe the films are poorly made, he dismissed it and assured me that it was simply groupthink.
